It’s that time of year.

Dear Friends of Invested Faith,

As we move into the Fall you’ll be hearing a lot from us about financial giving to build this fund. A lot of folks will be vying for your attention and investment; will you consider Invested Faith? Invested Faith is an ideal giving option if you’re thinking about how to handle Required Annual Distributions or end of year tax deductible giving.

Here’s what happens when you contribute to the Donor Advised Fund Invested Faith holds at Impact Assets: you empower us to turn that money around and deploy it directly to faith-rooted social entrepreneurs who are building businesses that are changing unjust systems. In my travels and various conversations, I've met so many people who have money to give but who are unsure where their resources can have significant impact. If you care about the cultivation of gospel work in the world, if you care about people who risk everything to follow a call to change things, and if you want your resources to have immediate and powerful impact, I can’t think of any better way to give than to become part of building the Invested Faith fund.

If you’re considering a significant gift to help build this fund, I would like to talk with you. Please reach out; I know you’ll be energized by the stories of our Fellows and the profound impact they are making in a world so desperate for hope and healing.

Below you’ll meet another one of our Fellows, Biff Chaplow, who is working at the intersection of student homelessness and education, and hear news about the continued, amazing work of Class 2 Fellow, Alisha Gordon. And…in that same vein, in just a week or two we will announce CLASS 5 of Invested Faith Fellows. The folks you will meet when that announcement is made are people who will fill your own heart with hope and possibility for a world God wishes for us.

I feel so much hope and enthusiasm and excitement for this work; enjoy some soul-filling news here. I hope you or your church, business, or foundation will consider joining us!

Biff Chaplow is a parent, artist, and activist for economic justice. They currently serve as the Executive Director for EEqual, a youth-led nonprofit working to ensure homeless youth have equal access to higher education. EEqual believes housing is a human right, education is a human right, and intergenerational leadership is key to addressing these issues. EEqual takes a two-pronged approach to meeting the needs of students, providing direct resources to students experiencing homelessness as well as breaking the stigma surrounding student homelessness by opening chapters across the country and developing curriculum and education materials to meet the challenge of youth homelessness.

in the news

Invested Faith Fellow Alisha Gordon and The Current Project are featured this month on parents.com in Kindred, the media vertical focused on Black parenting for the award winning Parents magazine. Make sure to check out this great story!

The Current Project's Deep Understanding of Black Single Mothers Is Hard-Earned

Founder Alisha Gordon knows first-hand what it's like to be stuck between thriving and surviving.

"Toni Morrison once said that the demands of motherhood were different than anything else. . From less-than-generous "safety net programs" to tackling social norms and shame, these hurdles become increasingly difficult for single mothers. Such was the case for Alisha Gordon, founder of The Current Project." Read the article at parents.com.
